Bentley is entering a new chapter, bringing electrification into its vision for the future while maintaining the craftsmanship, performance and luxury expected from the brand. Today, that journey includes plug-in hybrid models, with an all-electric Bentley on the horizon.
The Journey to Electric Starts with Hybrid
Bentley’s electrification story began in 2018 with the Bentayga Hybrid, the brand’s first plug-in hybrid. It combines a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine with an electric motor and intelligent navigation technology that can determine which power source to use during different stages of a journey. Importantly, the Bentayga Hybrid can travel for more than 30 miles on electric power alone.
The hybrid approach has since expanded across the Bentley range. The Continental GT, Continental GTC, Flying Spur and Bentayga are now available with hybrid powertrain options, giving drivers the opportunity to experience electrified performance across several distinct Bentley models.
Electrified Luxury Across the Lineup
The current plug-in hybrid range demonstrates how Bentley is incorporating electric power without moving away from its grand touring character. The Continental GT Hybrid has a weighted combined electrical consumption of 19.8 kWh/100km, while the Continental GTC is rated at 19.9 kWh/100km. The Flying Spur also records 19.9 kWh/100km.
For SUV drivers, the Bentayga Hybrid offers weighted combined electrical consumption of 15.5 kWh/100km, alongside a fuel consumption figure of 6.7 L/100km on the weighted combined WLTP cycle. These figures highlight Bentley’s approach: electrification is being introduced as another way to enhance the driving experience while giving customers greater flexibility.
The First Fully Electric Bentley Is Coming
Bentley’s move into fully electric luxury is about to reach a major milestone. The brand’s first fully electric model is the Torcal, a luxury electric urban SUV scheduled for its global debut on September 23, 2026. It is set to introduce an entirely new chapter for Bentley while creating a new segment for the brand.
Designed to be less than five metres in length, the Torcal is intended to combine the practicality of an urban SUV with the refinement and performance expected from Bentley. It is also being developed with fast charging and a long battery range in mind, making it suitable for both everyday city driving and longer journeys.
The Torcal will be designed, developed and handcrafted at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, England, continuing the marque’s tradition of meticulous craftsmanship as it enters the electric era.
